Mechelen-based road haulier Van Dievel Transport will launch its own Van Dievel Academy after the summer. “In addition to attracting drivers, we will now also focus on Code 95 training,” says managing director Louis De Wael.
The transport company previously successfully launched its own Jobkaffee. In doing so, it succeeded in enthusing new drivers for the bottleneck profession. The Jobkaffee is now morphing into a Van Dievel cafĂ©. “We want to make it a broader platform: you can still learn the profession of truck driver with us, but there are other jobs too,” says De Wael (pictured right).
And after the summer, the transport company will also launch its own Van Dievel Academy. “Among other things, we are going to teach the Code 95 training ourselves. That is a professional competence test that all truck drivers have to take every five years to get a renewal of their driving licence,” it sounds.
Book on the way
On the occasion of the company’s 85th anniversary, there is also a book on the way. When milkman Jef Van Dievel passed by a paper mill in Duffel with his horse and cart in 1939, he put on his bold shoes. He knocked on the director’s door and offered his services there as a transporter with horse and cart Van Dievel Transport was born.
After 85 years, Mechelen-based Van Dievel Transport is still a transport company and it wants to keep it that way. “With a turnover of more than 25 million euros and 100 own trucks and 250 trailers, we are part of the top 100 transport companies in Belgium,” De Wael outlines. “Because our company has a rich history, we want to record this in book form. It will be a book that goes back to the very beginning,” added De Wael.
