In cooperation with other order and control services, the Leuven police organised a check on heavy transport on Thursday, 11 May. 29 trucks were pulled over. Over 23,000 euros worth of fines were issued.
Several trucks were found to be overloaded and the drivers had to transfer part of the load to another vehicle. Several vehicles were found to have technical defects, such as worn tyres or faulty lights.
One lorry driver was caught with his mobile phone in his hand, the driver of an exceptional transport did not comply with the conditions stated in the licence and some breaches of driving and rest times were observed. Finally, two waste transports did not have the necessary documents.
Fines totalling 23,168 euros were issued by all control services together.
