Truck maker DAF is expanding its range of new-generation trucks with a range of double-drive tractors and rigids for off- and on-road applications. The brand is also launching extra robust versions.
To its range of new-generation trucks (the XD, XF, XG and XG⁺ models), which were named ‘International Truck of the Year 2022’, DAF is now adding a range of double-drive tractors and rigids for off- and on-road applications. Specifically for the construction segment and special applications, these models have been adapted, DAF says in a press release.
Besides a series of external touches, the new-generation XDC and XFC construction vehicles received increased ground clearance of up to 40 centimetres and an approach angle of 25 degrees. This makes the vehicles suitable for applications that require regular off-road driving.
“The XDC and XFC are available as 8×4, 6×4 and – for the first time – 4×2,” the press release reads. “For excellent traction in tough conditions, DAF offers its XDC and XFC trucks with a choice of low-maintenance dual drive tandem axles.” The manufacturer also offers hydraulic front-wheel drive as an option.
Robust design
“Completely new are the ‘XD Extra Robust’ and ‘XF Extra Robust’. These series combine the robust cabs of the XDC and XFC with an on-road chassis,” says DAF. “This is suitable for companies in, for example, the construction and municipal sectors that need the lowest damage sensitivity, but do not require full off-road capabilities.”
In addition, DAF makes the case that the new vehicles have highly efficient powertrains and
that the new versions benefit from improved safety systems.
DAF Trucks N.V. is a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc, a US company that markets trucks under the DAF, Peterbilt and Kenworth names.
