Action plan to make French inland navigation more competitive and commercial

Alain Vidalies, French secretary of state for transport, announced the plan at the end of the second national conference for inland waterway transport earlier this month. An initial inland navigation conference in October 2014 resulted in the creation of three working groups to develop a set of coherent and operational proposals. One year on, it appears that there is strong growth potential for inland waterway transport while at the same time there is a need to develop the sector and better integrate it into the logistics chain.
