Shipping industry between hopes and fears for future

The Global Maritime Forum’s survey examines issues along three dimensions: how likely is a particular challenge in the next 10 years, how big is its impact and to what extent is the industry prepared for what is coming at it? The conclusions are remarkable, with ‘Global economic crisis’ ranked to potentially have the biggest impact on the maritime industry over a 10-year time horizon. ‘New environmental regulations’, ‘geopolitical tension’ and ‘cyber attacks and data theft’ are considered most likely. The industry is considered least prepared for global issues that have the greatest impact, although it is more confident than before in some financial areas.
