Flowscast – Photographer C. Clauwers on frontline climate change
On Wednesday afternoons, there is a new ‘Flowscast’ each time. Today, Julie Desmet talks to Christian Clauwers, photographer, explorer, speaker and author. His work focuses on the fragile relationship – and potential conflict – between humans and nature.
Christian Clauwers is an internationally renowned documentary photographer from Antwerp. He was one of the guest speakers at the world congress of the international freight forwarders’ association FIATA, which took place in Brussels in October 2023.
He has been on the frontline of climate change for more than a decade and has made several scientific ocean and polar expeditions. Through the images he creates, he bridges the gap between science and policy. With lectures and conferences (such as COP28), he inspires and shares his work with leaders, young people, NGOs, business people and ‘game-changers’, aiming to raise awareness.
‘Belgica’
He recently proudly presented his latest book publication ‘Awareness – a matter of time‘, featuring photos of his latest projects, including a series of an expedition aboard the Belgian research vessel ‘Belgica’, which set sail for the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Throughout his career, Christian Clauwers explored the five oceans and their most remote islands. In our latest episode of Flowscast, he talks at length about his adventures.
