In September, Astrid Eeckels swapped the Brussels Chamber of Commerce (BECI) for multimodal logistics group Ziegler. As business development manager, she will support Ziegler in its leading position in sustainable solutions.
Astrid Eeckels holds a master’s degree in Business Management & Entrepreneurship from the Hogeschool Universiteit Brussel (HUB-EHSAL). Before joining Ziegler, she worked as a business development manager at the Brussels Chamber of Commerce (BECI). “This is how I came into contact with logistics and transport companies and got interested in this fascinating sector,” she explains.
Sustainable supply
“Supporting Ziegler in its exemplary role in terms of sustainability is my new challenge” says Eeckels. “It is the desire of city governments to evolve towards more liveable cities. The transport and logistics sector must go along with this and make sure that city supplies are done in a sustainable way. There are new needs, more people and more mobility problems. As a leading company, Ziegler is responding to this with a number of innovative projects such as cargobikes and autonomous vans. This is how we offer sustainable solutions to our customers. I help monitor these new projects and contribute to the growth of the company. Our vision and approach are being noticed. Including the fact that our CEO Diane Govaerts was nominated Manager of the Year,” Eeckels emphasises.
Decisions
Ziegler’s family and international character determined her choice. “At Ziegler, employee and customer are central. I immediately felt included in the company. Decisions are made quickly. We are in full transition in terms of sustainability and digital transformation. That appeals to me and I want to contribute to this. More and more customers are demanding sustainable transport solutions,” concludes Eeckels.
