Higher Naval College starts school year with new lifeboat 'Argo'

The new lifeboat costs 140,000 euros, but for that amount the Higher Nautical College also gets value for money. The ‘Argo’ was built by manufacturer Hatecke to the requirements of the nautical college. This means that the vessel is just a little more spacious than a normal lifeboat, making teaching on board easier. The boat should last 20 years and can also be used by friendly partner organisations for training purposes. The name ‘Argo’ came from the students themselves. Before the summer, a competition was launched for that new name. ‘Argo’ refers to Greek mythology on the one hand, but also to the student association of the Higher School of Navigation.
