The idea of a chair was launched by Prof Dr Christa Sys (UAntwerpen (UA)/department of Transport and Regional Economics (TPR)) on the occasion of a memorial ceremony for Dennie Lockefeer. To make the chair possible, sponsors were sought and found. The steering committee consists of representatives of the four golden sponsors – Montea, De Vlaamse Waterweg, PSA and the Antwerp Navigation Association (ASV) – as well as Jo Van Moer (picture fifth from left) and Yves Hebb (sixth from left) of Van Moer Logistics, the promoters prof. Dr Christa Sys (third from left) and Prof Thierry Vanelslander (fifth from left) – both from the University of Antwerp (UA/TPR) – and Dimitry Beuckelaers (fourth from left), coordinator University Fund Antwerp. Montea was represented on Friday by Peter Demuynck (far right). For PSA, Sabine Corluy (second left) and Francis De Ruytter (second from right) were present and managing director Jan Van Mossevelde was excused. For De Vlaamse Waterweg, managing director ir Chris Danckaerts (far left) was present. For the ASV, Ton Verbeke (third from right), director Ocean Network Express (Europe) Ltd. Belgium Branch, was on the steering committee and managing director Eddy Wouters was excused.
