OPINIE - OPINION: British embassy does not want prying eyes in brexit soup

If there is one job you should certainly not envy today on blue monday, it is that of UK officials for the movement of goods and people with Europe. Since the “unsuccessful referendum” (dixit Flemish prime minister Geert Bourgeois) on 23 June 2016, uncertainty has reigned alone. An additional stressor was the decision to focus all contacts between the European Union and the United Kingdom (UK) exclusively on the negotiating table between Michel Barnier and his successive British counterparts. To this day, the brexit impasse in Westminster offers no future prospects of work organisation for customs officers, food inspectors, immigration officials and so on. They have to experience the mother of all blue Mondays today.
