Admit it, you don’t drive your car to work for pleasure these days. Certainly not in Antwerp. It is pleasing to see that city, port and private companies are looking for alternatives to the (company) car: even the CEO of the Port Authority can be seen cycling these days. But these evolutions are slow in coming and sometimes meet resistance from employees. At the most recent sustainability congress in the Port House, guest speakers pointed out that initiatives on cycling, working from home and public transport concessions are still flanked by a company car ‘in order not to price themselves out of the market’.
