Construction of sewer station kicks off renovation of Royers Lock

The construction of a new sewage station marks the start of large-scale adaptation works on the sewage infrastructure of the city of Antwerp adjacent to the Port Area. These are needed as part of the future renovation of the Royers Lock, which will be extended and widened. “The renovation of the Royers lock is an extremely important investment to further increase the share of inland navigation in the port’s hinterland transport. After all, with the upcoming roadworks in and around Antwerp, inland navigation will be invaluable in keeping our city and port accessible,” says port alderman Annick De Ridder.
