Volvo trains from China to Ghent halted by coronavirus

To prevent the coronavirus from spreading further, public life in China is at a standstill. And that affects the rail connection between Volvo Car sites in Ghent and China’s Daqing. “The first two trains from China have been cancelled,” says spokeswoman Barbara Blomme. “Production there was at a standstill this week anyway due to the holiday on the occasion of Chinese New Year, so there is no production this week. Initially, work was due to resume from Monday 3 February but due to the corona virus, the start-up of production there is now suspended until Monday 10 February.”
