Ferry operator DFDS evaluates brexit exercise customs positively

French customs want to avoid post-Brexit goods checks causing endless traffic jams in the port of Calais. French customs officers are therefore conducting extensive exercises. As part of this, ferry operator DFDS tested its own systems and processes and those of French customs during a large-scale exercise with real trucks and full ships. All trucks were given simulated customs documents that French customs scanned. On arrival, trucks with an orange sign had to follow the lane with an orange stripe that led them to the control area. The rest of the trucks, which were given a green sign, proceeded without any delay and the traffic flow was fully maintained.
