Rotterdam doubles guarded truck parking capacity

Maasvlakte Plaza will be a guarded truck parking facility with 359 spaces. The port of Rotterdam has already had three such infrastructures since 2012: Truckparking Waalhaven with a capacity of 124 parking spaces, Truckparking de Punt in Botlek with 85 spaces and Truckparking Distripark Botlek with 85 spaces. Since January 2015, occupancy rates have been particularly high at 95%, 71% and 80% respectively. “Since the opening of these paid parking areas, the safety of parked trucks has improved significantly and the inconvenience has decreased,” said a spokesperson for the port.
