AGS, the Dutch customs’ online declaration system, has shown quite a few glitches in recent weeks. This causes a lot of headaches for anyone who has a load of goods to transport to the Netherlands. Abram Op de Beeck, manager Customs & Foreign Trade at BASF Antwerp, sounded the alarm on LinkedIn. “Since the beginning of the year, there have been many failures in customs systems in the Netherlands. In Belgium, the PLDA system has been quite stable for the last year. At the consultation National Forum WG, we learnt that next year declarations under the globalisation procedure will (have to) run over PLDA as well. From private quarters, we stressed the need for sufficient server capacity. Only if the Belgian declaration system proves to be more stable than the Dutch one, can the predefined KPI in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Indicator be achieved!”, it sounds.
