In car park P30 at Brussels Airport, a staff car park opposite the drop-off zone, works have started for a new parking building. By the end of 2025, this building will provide 2,700 parking spaces for airport staff and car rental services.
Preparatory works for the construction of a new parking building at Brussels Airport started earlier this month. On the current staff car park P30, there will be an eight-storey parking building with a total floor area of 90,000 m² and 2,700 parking spaces.
As well as providing additional parking for airport staff, the building will also accommodate car rental services for passengers. A covered walkway will provide an easy connection to the airport terminal. This will free up more parking spaces in the public car parks for travellers arriving by car.
Circularity
Preparatory works for this new parking building will continue until the end of the year. This includes breaking up asphalt, concrete, foundations, drainage, cables, copings and lighting pylons. The broken-up materials will be removed and reused. For example, the concrete will be broken at the crushing plant in the cargo area at the airport and then used as backfill material at this site.
As the existing sewerage system has to be moved over a length of 30 metres, outbound traffic to the A201 will have to use two narrowed lanes for a fortnight in November.
Loading poles
By mid-December, the preparatory works should be complete, after which the actual construction work can begin. The new parking building will also provide 617 charging points for electric cars. The parking building will be completed by the end of 2025.
