“Will you marry me?” With that message on a semi-trailer, Sven De Wolf, truck driver at Antwerp-based transport company SL-Logistics, surprised his girlfriend Annelies with a special marriage proposal.
Sven De Wolf (34) and his girlfriend Annelies Van Raemdonck (30) have been a couple for 11 years and have an 8-year-old son, Jax, together. “I myself have never really been into getting married, but I know it was a dream of my girlfriend. That’s why I decided to surprise her in this way,” says the driver, who is on the road daily for SL-Logistics with ADR goods.
Last weekend, Sven enlisted the help of two friends to sticker a semi-trailer with the inscription ‘Will you marry me?’ ” Kurt Van Gijsel (who is the business manager of SL-Logistics together with Sofie Lievens, ed.) also immediately lent his support. With the excuse that we were going shopping together, I got Annelies along in the car. She was very surprised by my proposal and fortunately also answered ‘Yes’,” Sven laughs.
Despite the demanding nature of the profession, Sven still enjoys being a truck driver after 15 years. “It is a versatile job and the freedom you experience behind the wheel remains a huge plus.”
