Crowdfunding to finance electric ships Nedcargo and BCTN

Diederik Jan Antvelink, managing director of Nedcargo, just signed the construction order for two electric ships with Chris Kornet, CEO of Concordia Damen Shipbuilding (pictured right). “This had been in the planning for some time but was delayed a bit due to circumstances. The ships have now been ordered. They are two electric vessels 11.40 metres wide and 90 metres long. They are not standard vessels. They were specially designed to suit the lock in Den Bosch where a terminal of BCTN is located. The special design allows them to load 132 teu instead of the usual 108 for this type of vessel,” says Antvelink. The vessels will be used between Den Bosch and the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam.
