H.Essers again involved in litigation battle in Genk

The site on the former Ford Genk premises was licensed in 2017 for 160,000 sq m of warehouses. Of this, 30,000 m2 have since been built and are operational. But the H.Essers firm submitted an application for the expansion of product categories of hazardous goods, which was seized upon by the municipal council of Genk’s neighbouring municipality of Diepenbeek to file an objection. This is not the first time that H.Essers has faced opposition to its plans to expand its logistics operations in Genk. In June this year, Bos+ object ed to the construction of a new warehouse in an industrial area in Genk-North. In July 2017, the Council of State ruled that the expansion plans in another part of Genk could not go ahead due to environmental concerns.
