The fact that Belgium is regarded in the global air cargo sector as a leading country in terms of digitalisation, partnerships, cloud technology and community operation was demonstrated several times at the TIACA congress in October. “We received a lot of questions around our approach and the lessons learned from our trajectories around innovation, BRUcloud and so on,” says Steven Polmans, head of cargo at Brussels Airport and also vice-president of the global umbrella organisation TIACA. “That was the reason for us to organise a‘Connected Air Cargo Masterclass‘ for airports that want to go in the same direction as us. Not only to show them what we have done, but also to learn from them and exchange information. The focus is very clear: the digital world of tomorrow and how to respond to it as an airport. We are really aiming at those who are convinced that the biggest advances in the sector will come through digitalisation.”
