Flows offers you a podcast every Wednesday afternoon: ‘Flowscast’. This time, Julie Desmet talks to former Antwerp port alderman Marc Van Peel. He is committed as chairman of Maritime Patrimony, which aims to save maritime heritage from demolition or neglect.
Every week, our editors Julie Desmet or Philippe Van Dijck welcome a fascinating or high-profile guest from the port and transport sector. Today we introduce you to the ‘Flowscast’ with Marc Van Peel. A former figurehead of the political party cd&v, Van Peel was an alderman in his home city of Antwerp for 18 years, 12 of which were port aldermen.
He is now enjoying a well-earned retirement, but he is not sitting still. Since March 2022, he has been active as chairman of the private foundation Maritiem Patrimonium (MPM), which aims to gather all resources to preserve maritime heritage.
How does he look back on his career? How has he seen the port of Antwerp evolve? In this interview, we also look ahead with him to his work as president of MPM.
The podcast can be listened to via Spotify. Each podcast is recorded with video, and especially for our subscribers, we include it here as well.
